Pearl Country Club, Hawaii

Hole 13 at PCC a par three that gives you your last peak of Pearl Harbor past the flag and over the trees.

The back nine overlooks pearl harbor perfectly on a few holes and give you a great overview of other parts of the course as well, BUT beware of the mongoose those sneaky little creatures will steal any food you have in your cart opened or sealed they’ll grab the whole thing not joking. So hole number 10 pretty and all still tight fairways but the gem of this hole is the sign by the green (I’m sorry I forgot to take a picture of it) it said “Please pull forward more (picture of mongoose) we love snacks” but this isn’t where I encountered my friendly little mongoose. So after that hole, we got to 11 and it was a beautiful straight forward slight slant to the left hole, but number 12 is the one I want to talk about. Again with the hills on this course, it was a trek in the cart to get up there but once we were the view was worth it.

Hole 12 had the best view of Pearl Harbor, you could see everything. From the oil spill in the bay to the USS Arizona memorial to the open ocean. The view was breathtaking, the hole challenging.

Thirteen was a fun little par three, followed by two par fours (14 and 15). But it was on hole 16 that my little friend the mongoose crawled in mine and Autumn’s cart, no snacks sorry I was hungry too dude, onto Payton’s cart he went and to his surprise what did he find? A pack of crackers half full, he snatched them right up, wrapper and everything and ran back into the bushes. Seventeen was another blind dogleg left that butt up to the driving range, perfect. The hole was gorgeous but challenging. Hole eighteen looked almost identical to hole nine, mirror and all. But eighteen’s green is elevated but not as much as nine and this one ends at the clubhouse of course but mainly by the range, a second conference hall area that’s separate from the main building and the cart shed.

This course had is challenges, but overall was a beautiful course and honestly a most go to course in Honolulu. I’m very thankful to have gotten to end my collegiate golfing career at this course and would go back in a heartbeat, but this time I’d enjoy a beer or two while golfing.

What’s your favorite course in Hawaii? Or your favorite destination you’ve golfed at, let me know in the comments.

Cheers!
